Describe the plant and its duty

Record the plant manufacturer, model, asset number, commissioning date if known, rated output and current operating hours. Explain where the treated water goes, the required output and whether storage or another supply can cover a shutdown.

DuPont's RO guidance links performance to feedwater chemistry, pretreatment, system design and operation. Include the water source, available analysis and a simple pretreatment list so the enquiry describes the whole installation.

Send dated readings, not an isolated number

DuPont's FilmTec manual identifies operating records covering pressure, flow, conductivity and temperature at relevant feed, permeate and concentrate locations. Share the readings already recorded by your operators, with units, dates and measurement locations. Mark missing values rather than estimating them.

Add a comparable period when the plant was performing acceptably, alarm screenshots and the date the change began. Identify the installed membrane model so the provider can use the applicable manual for cleaning and troubleshooting decisions.

Separate the symptom from a proposed replacement

Describe observations such as reduced production, a recurring alarm or a change in logged conductivity without declaring that the membranes have failed. List recent cartridge changes, previous cleaning, replaced components and changes to the incoming supply. Attach earlier service reports if available.

For possible replacement items, send existing membrane labels and cartridge dimensions, end connections, filtration rating and quantity from records. Ask the provider to verify suitability before naming replacements. Arabian Labs' RO membrane elements and water filter cartridges are quote-on-request ranges; final models should be specified in the quotation.

Make access and deliverables explicit

State the emirate, facility contact, plant-room access route and permitted shutdown window. Identify who can authorise isolation and who manages site permits. For a GCC location outside the UAE, request confirmation of travel, site access and logistics before treating a date as agreed.

Ask whether the quotation covers initial assessment, planned maintenance, consumables, reporting and a return visit if parts are required. Request a written record of observations and recommended next steps. Agree how additional work will be authorised, including who receives the revised scope.

Example enquiry to adapt

Our Sharjah facility operates one RO skid supplying a process-water tank. Output has fallen over the past two weeks. Attached are the nameplate, membrane labels, pretreatment layout and dated operating logs. We can offer a four-hour shutdown window, subject to confirmation. Please quote an assessment and written findings, identifying any proposed maintenance, parts and subsequent visit separately.

Include the required water specification as an attachment rather than asking the provider to infer suitability from the plant's rated capacity.

Your enquiry checklist

  • Plant identity, duty and required water specification.
  • Dated logs, alarm history and previous service reports.
  • Existing membrane and cartridge identification.
  • Shutdown window, access contact and isolation arrangements.
  • Assessment deliverables, exclusions and additional-work approval.

Put the checklist to work.

Send your equipment details, location and required work. We review UAE enquiries first; GCC visits are arranged around the scope, travel and logistics.
